The Journey Begins

Hey Everyone, for my first post I'd like to tell you a little about myself.

My name is Jesse DeMott and I am a student pursuing my Bachelors in Computer Science. I am very passionate about a lot of things including God, family, music, movies, cooking, computers and the list goes on. I have a tendency to talk a lot so hopefully my posts aren't too long.
I'm also generally a pretty funny guy and love to make people laugh.

Hopefully this picture of me made you laugh.

I grew up in a Christian home in Westminster CO. My parents Joe and Stephanie are missionaries and because of this I had the pleasure of visiting many different countries and have learned a lot about their cultures. I also had the privilage to be home schooled so I could travel. I have 3 older siblings, Joseph, David, and Anna. I am 9 years younger than Anna who is the youngest of the three.

In 2010 I started attending Red Rocks Community College to study Web Development and in 2012 decided to transfer to Colorado School of Mines to get my Bachelors in Computer Science. Due to this I moved to Golden CO and will be transferring Fall 2014.

While at Red Rocks I really had on my heart to start a Bible study. With the help of God, some friends, and the school, Bible Study on the Rock was born. After a year the club was contacted by Cru, a ministry that specializes in college age ministry. They began to start supporting us and we became Cru@RRCC. I am very passionate about our club and hope it continues after I transfer.

That was the condensed version but, I think that sums me up at this point in my life.

The reason I wanted to write this blog is because moving to Golden has made me realize somethings. When you are on your own, you also have to make your faith your own. I come into contact with a lot of people with a lot of different beliefs and sometimes some really tough questions come up. These tough questions force me to think about things I have never thought about before and encourages me to really know what I believe.

I am constantly being bombarded with things like homework, student organizations, work, friends, family, world events, and especially paying bill. Sometimes it seems impossible to get my head above the noise so I can here the voice of Jesus. Although when I do, It is more meaningful and powerful then it has ever been when I was younger.

In this blog that is what I will be talking about, those times when I bump into Jesus as I traverse through my life in college.

With all that said I would like to point out that this blog is not meant for Christians. It is meant anyone who want to read about my journey. Some of my closest friends are not Christians but I still talk to them about God because he is a part of my life. On that note I should warn you, I will probably quote scripture from time to time.

My hope is that my stories and experiences can impact your journey through life. The Bible does say our stories are important.

"they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony"
Revelation 12:11

You were warned.
